About
Sustainable Market is a new retail store dedicated to connecting eco-lifestyle goods with conscious customers. Sustainable retail is currently defined as organizations taking measures to ensure their business, manufacturing, and production processes don't negatively impact the environment. But we can do better...

We've embarked on a journey to empower manufacturers driven by a commitment to crafting products that meet market needs and contribute positively to our planet and humanity.

Mission
At Sustainable Market, we're on a mission to make sustainability accessible for everyone. Everyone deserves access to the cleanest, most sustainable products available without the luxury price tags other retailers charge to encourage their customers to buy their brands. Join us as we redefine the landscape of sustainable shopping.
Vision
Our vision for Sustainable Market is to offer companies manufacturing eco-goods access to customers in an omnichannel retail customer experience. To start, we are only beginning with the online store. Next, we plan to open our first retail storefront as our proof of concept location and finish building our custom application. Subscribe to receive our monthly newsletter and follow us on our journey.
What our products are made of
Bio-Plastic
Bioplastics are plastics made from renewable resources like plants, microbes, or recycled food waste. They can be biodegradable or compostable and are often used as a replacement for traditional plastics made from petroleum and take up to 500 years to start breaking down.

That means every plastic toothbrush you have ever used will out live you by several generation!
Bamboo
"Bamboo goods" refers to any product made from the bamboo plant, including items like furniture, flooring, clothing, kitchen utensils, bathroom accessories (like toothbrushes), towels, paper products, and even construction materials, all utilizing bamboo's strong and renewable properties.
Is bamboo a tree?
No, bamboo is a grass, not a tree. It is a member of the grass family Poaceae and the subfamily Bambusoideae. Bamboo can look like a tree because of its size and sturdy structure. Bamboo grows quickly, reaching its full height in one season. It has shallow roots like grass but grows woody culms instead of blades. When bamboo is harvested, the root system regrows using rhizomes, similar to grass. Bamboo is a renewable resource that can be used in many ways, including construction, clothing, food, and instruments.

Does bamboo use less water to grow than cotton?
Yes, bamboo uses significantly less water to grow than cotton; in fact, bamboo can require as little as one-third of the water needed to cultivate cotton, making it a more water-efficient option. Bamboo fabric can help combat that issue because it is not only super absorbent but moisture-wicking as well. While cotton is absorbent, it stays wet when it gets wet.

Sustainable Wood
Sustainable wood is lumber from forests managed responsibly and harvested without harming the environment. It's a renewable resource that can be used for construction and furniture without damaging local ecosystems. Look for a certification from an organization like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), American Tree Farm System (ATFS), or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).
How is sustainable wood harvested?
-
Replanting: Trees are cut down and then immediately replanted to limit the impact of logging.
-
Forest management: Forests are managed to protect watersheds, wildlife, and the trees themselves.
-
Responsible harvesting: Trees are harvested using methods that preserve biodiversity.
